New Hire Onboarding Assessment

Improve your onboarding experience

We assess your current onboarding process and recommend the best methods to onboard and train non-English speaking employees. Our approach ensures employees grasp essential training and safety instructions, and are prepared to contribute productively from day one.

New Hire Onboarding Assessment

If your organization currently hires individuals who don’t speak English, or if you are considering hiring from this demographic for the first time, this assessment will evaluate your current onboarding and training process, make recommendations for how to accommodate non-English speaking employees, and provide you with a final plan outlining areas to implement change.

Some organizations rely on translation services for onboarding, but we have found this to be a limiting short-term fix. Implementing onboarding processes that take into consideration differing language and cultural understandings will help increase your organizations’ employee engagement and retention rates.

In addition, teaching new hires key English words during the onboarding process will set your entire organization up for long term success.

Common Questions

What You Need to Know About the New Hire Onboarding Assessment

Why won’t translating all of my onboarding materials work?

While translating onboarding materials can be effective for some policies and documents, it should not be used for the entire onboarding process. It’s important for new employees to begin building their English language skills from their first day of work. To ensure effective communication company-wide, all team members need to be able to communicate in English or be working towards it. English language training can start on day one for new hires. With effective training, this will boost their confidence and empower both leadership and employees to communicate more effectively from the start.

How much time will the New Hire Onboarding Assessment take?

We’ll work with you to pre-schedule all materials to review, as well as the in-person visits and observation periods. You can expect the entire process from the start through the finished product of producing the final Onboarding Analysis to be around 60-90 days.

What are some of the common recommendations you make?

While every organization is at a different maturity stage of onboarding non-English speaking employees, we often recommend incorporating English language training during the hiring, onboarding and training process. We also commonly encounter processes that create cultural misunderstandings or misconceptions. Our assessment helps remove points of friction or concern for new hires for a more successful onboarding and improved retention with your organization.

Is this assessment best for organizations that are new to hiring non-English speakers?

This assessment can benefit new and mature hiring processes. If you have a concern that your new hires aren’t fully grasping safety information, or if your supervisors are frustrated with the challenge of communicating with new hires that don’t speak English, then this program is for you. This program can pinpoint areas of friction to reduce turnover, ensure training and safety instructions are fully understood, build an inclusive environment, and improve the overall employee experience.
