SCHEDULE A TRAINING

Spanish for Supervisors is an 8-week course designed to enhance communication between English-speaking supervisors and their Spanish-speaking staff. Each lesson focuses on building Spanish language related to the workplace. The course equips participants with the strategies and skills to improve communication in a multilingual environment.

SPANISH VOCABULARY

  • Commonly used words and phrases for the workplace
  • Opportunity to practice speaking and listening in Spanish
  • Feedback from a bilingual instructor

SPANISH CULTURE

  • Aspects of Latino culture that differ from typical U.S. workplace culture
  • Values that are commonly held by the Latino culture
  • Ways to be culturally sensitive to employees from Latino cultures

COMMUNICATION TOOLS

  • Techniques for improving understanding across languages
  • Ways to encourage employees to develop their English skills
  • Opportunities to practice communication tools by listening to Spanish and decoding the meaning
